Wash hairbrushes, combs, and hair accessories in hot soapy water (at least 50°C) for 10 minutes. Lice die within 24–48 hours off the scalp, but cleaning removes eggs and reduces reinfestation risk.
Soak brushes and combs in hot soapy water. Use a toothbrush to scrub between bristles. Rinse and air-dry. Metal combs can be boiled briefly. Avoid sharing brushes and combs during an infestation.
Wash in the washing machine on a hot cycle (60°C) or soak in hot soapy water. Pillowcases and hats can go in the wash too. The main way to stop spread: treat everyone with lice and avoid head-to-head contact. Check first. Treatment guide here. See bedding and lice.
