Children's privacy
Head lice mostly affect children, so many of the photos uploaded here are of a child's scalp. We take extra care because of that.
This page explains, in plain English, how we protect children's privacy.
Parents/guardians decide
Consent to store an image must be given by a parent or guardian.
Extra care
Children's images are handled with the same encryption and access limits as everything else — and are never public.
Consent is given by an adult
The site is intended for use by parents, guardians, carers, schools, and clinics — not by children themselves. By choosing to store an image, you confirm you're an adult with the right to give that consent.
We collect as little as possible
- We don't ask for a child's name, age, or any identifying details.
- Hidden photo metadata (like location) is removed before storage.
- Images aren't linked to an identity or shown publicly.
Storage is always optional
You can use the scanner without ever storing an image. Retention only happens if you explicitly opt in after seeing your result.
Withdrawal is simple
Change your mind at any time in the Privacy Centre. The image is flagged, excluded from future training, and scheduled for deletion.
Questions or requests
If you'd like an image removed or have any concern about a child's privacy, contact us and we'll help.
Manage your choices
View or withdraw consent and manage cookie preferences any time.
