Head lice are common, especially in children. They spread by head-to-head contact. Treat with silicone- or oil-based products or wet combing. Repeat after 7–10 days. Check everyone in the household.
A nit is a head louse egg. They're the same thing. Nits are oval, yellowish-white, and glued to hair near the scalp. Empty casings stay attached after hatching.
