Eyelash Nits: What are they and how to get rid of them?

TL;DR

Eyelash nits are rare. They're usually pubic lice (crabs) that have spread to the lashes, not head lice. See a GP or pharmacist for safe removal — don't use head lice products near the eyes.

What are eyelash nits?

True head lice rarely infest eyelashes. When nits appear on lashes, it's often pubic lice (Pthirus pubis), which can spread from the groin to eyebrows and lashes through touch.

If they're naturally occurring, why get rid of them?

Lice on lashes cause irritation and can affect eye health. Removal needs care — never use head lice lotions near eyes. A GP or pharmacist can recommend safe methods. For scalp lice, use our free checker and find a clinic.
